Call for Symposium Proposals

The congress programme includes 9 Symposia, 2 proposed by the local organising committee and 7 proposed by SIF Members. Two or more of the Symposia will be selected among the JUNIOR proposals.

Each symposium will include 4 speakers, with 80 minutes duration. Symposia must be linked to one of the following themes: Cellular and Molecular Physiology; Neurophysiology; Physiology of Metabolism; Environmental Physiology; Muscle Physiology; Physiology of Organs and Systems. At least the Symposium proposer and one of the speakers must be SIF members, in good standing with the payment of the membership fee. All four speakers must be affiliated with different Institutions. The proposer (if Chair but not speaker) may have the same affiliation of a speaker. Priority criteria for proposals equally scored on scientific excellence are gender balance and presence of a foreign speaker.

For JUNIOR Symposia, the proposer and all speakers must not be older than 40 years. When submitting the proposal, the applicant must specify the birthdate of each participant.

Symposium proposals must include:

• the name of the proposer, with affiliation and email address;
• the theme of the Symposium, selected from those listed above;
• names, affiliations and email addresses of all speakers;
• the title of the Symposium (in English), the title of each speaker's communication, a brief summary of the topic covered (max 300 characters, including spaces) and a brief description of each speaker's contribution (max 500 characters, including spaces, for all four speakers).

Proposals can only be submitted using the form available online from 14 March 2024 to 30 April 2024. The Symposia will be selected by the SIF Board of Directors that will communicate the results to applicants not later than May 15, 2024. The proposer will ask the speakers to finalize their registration to the Congress as Symposium speakers and submit their abstracts before 31 May 2024.
